When I was starting out in life, I took a job on the assembly line and I was glad to have it!

I am, quite frankly, too old for a physical job. Or I would be very tempted. It makes me wonder, though: how are the young Americans going to get their first jobs, when illegal immigrants take so many of them less desired jobs?

So true about the farm labor. Most hay in our area is put up in round bales. Not because that is what sells best but because it is almost impossible to find someone to work the racks when baling. We have a small hay field that we contract to have baled. The farmer wouldn't even consider small bales until we told him that we would pay him to bale and leave in the field. We do all the rack work.

Does anyone else remember when high school students use to do farm work in the summer to earn some spending money? We would pick rocks, walk bean fields, etc. Labor intensive but it was a job!
